Abstract

By considering appropriate meaning structures, but also metanarrative suggestions in selected works of late modernism and different phases of postmodernism in Serbian literature, the author of the paper argues the symbolically charged motif of the book as a basis for planning teaching situations that facilitate the integration of student’s knowledge about the aforementioned poetic currents. Due to the considerable imaginative and interpretive activity that the mentioned teaching units require from students, the paper proposes the interweaving of the intensive methodology with comparative treatment as a model on which teachers can actualize their own methodological approaches. At the same time, it especially takes into account the potential of selected teaching units in the field of encouraging and fostering intercultural viewpoints among students. In the end, this methodical contribution should illustrate the significant value of specific thematic classes in regular literature classes, such that, if necessary, project classes can also be developed based on them.
